Our Early History

Over 60 years ago, two talented engineers and inventors, working from a small workshop garage, envisioned a new type of safe combining the highest possible precision engineering standards with immense material strength and almost complete concealment. The Hamber range of underfloor safes was developed and patented, winning numerous industry awards and being exported all over the world, even featuring in a bestselling novel and a blockbuster Hollywood film along the way.

Hamber Safes is a proudly independent, family company. We have been making specialist underfloor safes for over 60 years, are the original patent holders, and are widely considered the experts in this sector of the security industry. Our safes are designed to be easy to install and simple to use, built from the very highest-quality materials without compromise, and recommended by master locksmiths, security consultants and insurance experts. They are supported by a 5 year warranty and known as 'the Rolls Royce of underfloor safes'.

We're not a faceless corporation, and we don't simply import and resell safes from overseas. All our safes are individually hand-built by our team of artisan engineers in our Essex factory, not mass-produced on a production line, because we believe this level of quality and attention to detail is essential when building something you will rely on to protect your valuables.

Our team has extensive experience and shared knowledge spanning over five decades, including Victor, Victor 'Senior' (Technical Services Advisor), Tim, Andy, Ruth and Faye. We pride ourselves on getting it right, giving our clients absolute peace of mind.
